Savannah Group Supports Black History Month With Pro-Bono Managing Director Search For The Black Cultural Archives
Savannah Group, announces that it is working with the Black Cultural Archives on a pro-bono basis to identify a new Managing Director.
The Black Cultural Archives is the only national heritage centre dedicated to collecting, preserving and celebrating the histories of African and Caribbean people in Britain. Established in 1981 and situated in its iconic building in Brixton’s Windrush Square since 2014, BCA collects, preserves and celebrates the presence of African and Caribbean heritage people in Britain.
The organisation is looking for an individual who will work with the Board to ensure effective operational management of the heritage business and initiate, develop and sustain collaborative relationships that enhances the profile of the Black Cultural Archives.
Tony Simpson, head of Savannah Group’s Media Practice and the partner leading the search commented “Black History Month shines a spotlight on the importance of preserving and celebrating black history. We are delighted to be able to show our support by helping the Black Cultural Archives with their conservation efforts by assisting them in the search for a new Managing Director.
“Events like Black History Month play an important role in celebrating the heritage of minority groups, and in turn, inspiring and encouraging the next generation of leaders from diverse backgrounds to step forward. Organisations truly embracing diversity of race, gender, culture, thought, style, experience and orientation are those whose fresh thinking teams are demonstrably driving success. But with only 6 per cent of UK management jobs held by ethnic minorities, and 58 per cent of FTSE 100 boards lacking ethnic minority representation there is still a long way to go”.
Savannah Group are increasingly focused on diversity and inclusion recruitment at the executive level, with 42% of their appointments in 2017 being of a gender or ethnically diverse candidate.
