Savannah Group Win The Velothon Wales

Savannah Group recently competed in and won the 2018 edition of the Velothon Wales corporate challenge.

The 140km closed-road cycling race starts in the centre of Cardiff, with riders taking on two notorious climbs, the Tumble and Caerphilly Mountain, before a grandstand finish back in the centre of Cardiff. This year’s edition was particularly challenging due to the 30 degree plus temperatures, with Savannah’s six riders fending off strong competition from Savills, Airbus, Arriva Trains, Siemens and more to take the victory, with a combined time of 23 hours 40 minutes and 28 seconds.

The riders were raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support through their Just Giving page.

Team Captain Alex Martin commented “It was a huge effort from all of the team in tough conditions. We fielded considerably less riders than most of our competitors, so we knew we had to make everyone’s time count. I’m delighted and very proud of what we achieved as a team and it’s fantastic that we smashed our fund raising target for Macmillan Cancer Support. In particular I’d like to thank those that donated and Naomi Barton for her support over the weekend and helping to co-ordinate us on the day of the race.”
