My story
I first got into search when I joined the Technology and Media practice of Egon Zehnder International, covering a broad spectrum of searches for senior-level executives. I have worked in corporate research roles since graduating. I originally went into corporate finance research for an investment bank and then joined The Boston Consulting Group as a Senior Researcher in the Technology and Telecommunications practice.
My focus
I currently work as a Principal with a focus on our Sport and Media, Consumer, Leisure, Hospitality and Travel practices focusing on executive and board appointments across a variety of functions within these sectors. My early career was in digital and technology working with BCG, and when I started in search in 2005, I had a functional focus in CIO, CTO, and Digital Technology Director appointments across a range of sectors. I also lead the Research Delivery Team at Savannah.
My role is to make sure that the partners and clients I work with find the best possible candidates for their businesses. I ensure that our search process is comprehensive and gather market insight that our clients value. I often work closely with my network of candidates and contacts as a trusted advisor for anything from careers and networking tips to CV advice.
My motivation
I think I am a naturally inquisitive person – my family would say I always ask too many questions! But I really enjoy meeting people and organisations and getting to know them. I also love working with people throughout their career and hopefully being part of their success.
Without doubt, the best part of my job is the opportunity to meet and work with some really great candidates and clients. My role means that I get to work with organisations going through really exciting periods of change and transformation and find outstanding people for our clients who will help them be successful in today’s fast-moving and agile world.
I get to speak to people all over the world working in a range of industries and businesses, understand what their goals and aspirations might be and how we can help them achieve them and develop their careers. You develop lasting relationships with people and businesses, which I really enjoy.
Why I like working at Savannah
I have worked in a number of blue chip global businesses, and can honestly say that this is an organisation that places real value on building long-term relationships with both clients and candidates. Savannah has also built its values as an organisation around its people, and this is reflected in its client- and candidate-centric approach to search.
I have been with the business since 2010 and it has grown significantly during this time, without losing sight of its values and founding principles. It is a tremendously supportive organisation with a great sense of fun.
