Clancy Murphy

Senior Advisor

With over 25 years’ experience across strategy, organisational redesign, transformation, and using data & insight to drive competitive advantage, Clancy is a trusted advisor to executive teams and boards. Clancy was formerly a CHRO for a FTSE 250 business and is currently a non executive director for Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust . She has previously held non executive, advisory and executive roles including as a member of various risk, sustainability, remuneration, and nomination committees. As an executive coach, Clancy has worked with both senior leaders and individuals who are on a leadership journey both as part of global leadership programmes and one to one.

I started my career at Deloitte, where I quickly moved from accountancy to the people function.  I was lucky to have a varied and enjoyable 17 years moving around different parts of the People team meaning that when I left and moved into my first HR director role I had a sound understanding of most of the HR centres of excellence.  My HRD career started in a Private Equity backed financial services business which was a turnaround situation and which became a significant buy and build opportunity.  Building on my PE experience I spent the next 5 years working independently and for a City boutique supporting businesses and their leadership teams as they transitioned through PE investment.  My last executive role was as the Chief People Officer for a FTSE 250 global defence focused business going through significant change.  I have trained as a coach and now have both consulting, coaching and non executive work in my portfolio.

For the last 10 years I have been focused on helping leaders develop both as individuals and with their teams.  I have a passion for how organisations are structured and how this impacts on their effectiveness. Creating strong leaders is at my core and I have been lucky to work with some amazing individuals, teams and organisations at critical points in their development, supporting them with both their structures and their skill sets to deliver improved performance and to achieve strategic goals.

I am relentlessly curious about people and context and am privileged to be able to spend my time asking questions and joining the dots around what is being said and not said within an organisation or team to uncover what might be holding someone or some people back.  I love unpicking challenges and designing solutions, working with clients to create approaches which create forwards movement.

I joined the team at Savannah as I believe they are genuine in their holistic approach to unpicking talent issues with their clients, and creating outstanding solutions.  The team is dynamic, forward thinking and above all fun.
